Mallam Abubakar Mohammed
The Director General of the National Directorate of Employment, Mallam Abubakar Mohammed has been honoured with the chieftaincy title of 'Nton Nenah' (the peace maker) by the Ikom people of Cross River state.
A statement issued by the NDE in Abuja said the DG was conferred with the title, which is the highest chieftaincy award in recognition of his efforts towards employment generation.
The award ceremony was the high point and grand finale of the 24 day Ikom New Yam Festival and was witnessed eminent Nigerians from various parts of the country.
The paramount ruler of Ikom, Ntulemang (Dr.) Peter Njul Eku described Abubakar as a “high profile Nigerian and an icon of youth empowerment” who has contributed immensely to the socio-economic development of Ikom, Cross River State and Nigeria.
He added that Abubakar's contribution to the community dated back to 1975 when he was among the first set of Corps Members to be drafted to the state. He was deployed to Boki Boys Community Secondary School Okondi in present day Boki Local Government Area of Cross River state.
The NDE has also established projects in Nde community in Ikom Local Government Area as well as Okondi village in Boki Local Government Area, the statement added.
