Expired and illegal drugs worth N1b were confiscated in Kano within a period of one year by the Task Force on Counterfeit and Fake Drugs, according to the Chairman of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Kano State branch.

He said out of the confiscated drugs over N700m worth of the drugs were found in only two warehouses, while the remaining ones were found and confiscated in other locations across the city.

Pharmacist Ahmad Gana Muhammad told reporters on Wednesday that Kano State’s resolve to send drug marketers out of the Sabon Gari market was a decision that coincided with the national law that controls drug administration in the country.

He disclosed that drugs are not a commodity that should be sold in the market.

"No where in the world will see what drug marketers have put together in one place, like a market, except in Nigeria".
