All is now set for the establishment of the first ever Welfare Trust Fund for Nigerian Footballers tagged “Nigeria Footballers Welfare Trust Fund”.

The much talked about project featuring the official launching and N500 million fundraising dinner ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, at Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja.

According to the Association of Professional Footballers of Nigeria (APFON) the country’s players under the new scheme will henceforth enjoy income protection and their future, guaranteed to enable utmost concentration on their local career and professionally plan jetting out.

President Goodluck Jonathan (GCFR), who is the special guest of honour, will lead other well meaning Nigerians and corporate bodies as well as top government officials to make good the promises of the recent presidential sports retreat under the watchful eyes of APFON grand patron and Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.

The chief host of this epoch making event is Sports Minister, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi.

A friendly match pitching Abuja F.C. and a Select Ex-international side will flag off proceedings at the Goal Project pitch at 3:30 pm, paving the way for the dinner slated for 07:00 pm at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton.
