Several people have been killed with many others injured in a double suicide car bomb attack in a Protestant Church at the barracks of the Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC)  Jaji, near Kaduna.

Although details of the incident are still scanty, sources in the barracks explained that the incident happened around 1 pm after the church service was over.

It was learnt that it was a coordinated attack with the first car bomb failing to cause casualties and the second exploding amongst the crowd who had appeared on the scene of the first car blast.

"The church service was over and many  people had left leaving the elders of the church behind. Suddenly the bomb exploded then people rushed to rescue them, then minutes after the first explosion, the second one exploded killing many people while many others were injured," the source said.

He could not however said how many lives were lost in the incident. However,  Reuters quotes an eyewitness as saying at least five persons were killed. Those who sustained injuries are said to have been rushed to the AFCSC Hospital within the barracks.

Details of the incident was still scanty as the authorities of the college are inaccessible.

The Kaduna state police command also declined to comment on the incident.

The police commissioner, Mr. Olufemi Adenaike told THISDAY on telephone that only the authorities of the AFCSC can comment and give details of what happened.
