One of Nigeria’s largest telecommunications operators, MTN, has donated five brand new security vehicles to Anambra State Government through its Foundation.

According to a release made available to THISDAY, the company presented the vehicles at the Government House, Awka, and was witnessed by the full complement of the members of the State Executive Council who broke the weekly EXCO meeting to receive the donation.

Presenting the vehicles, the Director, MTN Foundation, Mr. Akinwale Goodluck, said the gesture was to appreciate and identify with the success story of Governor Peter Obi’s administration, which he said had given a new definition to governance in the country.

Goodluck noted that the state governor had continued to demonstrate unparalleled passion on state matters and had created an enabling environment for businesses to flourish.

He assured that the vehicles were part of other packages the company had for the state, while sustainable measures have been put in place to ensure that the vehicles remain on the road.
Responding, Governor Obi thanked MTN for the gesture, even as he recalled that the company had equally identified with the state in health and sanitation programmes.

He said security had remained a critical and top priority of his administration noting that the donation was timely as state government aimed at providing security vehicles to all 177 communities in the state.

The governor also solicited the company’s support in
education and environmental challenges.

On his part, the Transition Committee Chairman, Orumba South, Mr. Bennett Ibekwe, added that the support was well-deserved and the governor had evolved efficient security network that had brought succour to the people and the business community.
