The on-going MTN Katsina 2012 International Polo Tournament, which enters its final stage this weekend is bracing up for one of the major highlights with the final of the Nigerian Cup and the General Hassan Cup making all the headlines ahead of the grand finale.

The Nigerian Cup which remains one of the oldest polo prizes and the General Hassan Cup have been the major prizes in the prestigious MTN Katsina Polo extravaganza and for this year, three teams are vying for the high stake crown which would be decided before a full house at the foremost Sir Usman Nagogo Polo theatre.

The two finals promise to be a cracking game as the players have vowed to match their opponents move for move and skills for skills in the battles for the coveted trophies at stake which would be presented to the eventual winners on Saturday.

General Hassan Katsina whose name is being honoured with the tournament was until his death, the Life Chairman of the Nigerian Polo Federation (NPF) and many first class emirs across the northern region are expected to grace the grand fiesta that has been attracting top corporate chieftains and polo enthusiasts in their thousands since it galloped off with fanfare last weekend.

The tall ambition of Katsina Gobarau winning the coveted Coomassie Cup ran into turbulence as they were summarily dismissed by Katsina Tarno and Katsina Rimi respectively. Also out of reckoning in the race for the low-goal prize, is Minna Tunga who suffered defeat in the hands of their Katsina Tarno opponents.

The prestigious MTN Polo festival is billed to climax this weekend with the final of the Dikko Memorial Cup which is certain to go straight out of the roof as the Nigerian Cup winners’ confronts a strong field of selected top professionals in the last game of the tournament.

Meanwhile, telecoms giant, MTN which is the sponsor of games, has rolled out series of mouth-watering propositions for its teeming Muslim population in Nigeria who have been enjoying the networks massive attention since the Ramadan Festival, the freebies which started from September 10 will end on December 10 2012.

General Manager, Consumer Marketing, MTN Mr. Kola Oyeyemi added, “MTN is also distributing 100,000 free MTN two in one (2-in-1) and single SIMs. We have an offer in the market that we call the two in one offer, the day you get the pack you have two SIM’s for the price of one, now the beauty of that is this, one has a number that can be immediately used.”
