Emmanuel Emenike
Victor Moses had a light workout, but Emmanuel Emenike again missed Nigeria’s training Friday ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations final against Burkina Faso.
Officials disclosed that the leading scorer at the Nations Cup with four goals did not feature in the team’s training yesterday afternoon in Johannesburg.
It is the second straight day Emenike has missed training.
However, they maintained there is still no cause for alarm as the Spartak Moscow striker will be fit in time for the final against the Stallions of Burkina Faso.
“He has gone for a scan and he will be fit for the final,” said Eagles spokesman, Ben Alaiya.
Moses, on the other hand, had a light training alone under the supervision of the physiotherapist.
Both players picked up injuries during the 4-1 demolition of Mali in Durban on Wednesday and have so far been the major injury concerns for Nigeria leading up to the final.
Incidentally, they are Nigeria’s highest scorers in this competition with six goals between them – Emenike has fired four goals to be among the leading scorers in the competition, while Chelsea winger Moses has two goals.
