As merger talks and alliances among opposition progressives continue, hands of fellowship are been extended to the Mega Progressive Peoples Party (MPPP) as one of the vibrant political force to be reckoned with in the countdown to the 2015 general elections.
In view of this, the party said it has set up a seven-member committee to work out an alliance with other progressive-minded political parties interested in working with the party.
This decision, the party said, was taken at the end of the party’s extra’s ordinary meeting held in Abuja on April 9 and 10 which was attended by leaders of the party from the 36 States of the Federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
According to a statement issued by the National Leader of the party , Hon. Chief Rasheed Shitta-Bey, the party said its hierarchy has been reaching out to some political parties with a view of coming together on a political party platform to contest 2015 general elections.
The statement added that leading parties and eminent Nigerians have been approaching the party to form a common ground whereby Nigerians of impeccable characters, good values, who have the feelings of the people at heart will come together to usher in solutions to the unending problems confronting the people.
The party leaders enjoined Nigerians to remain steadfast and wait for emergence of a new opposition platform to wrestle power from PDP government come 2015.
’’I believe things are going to work in our favour as we approach 2015,Looking at the support received from our people across the country, these people are looking for a good and sustainable platform to propagate their beliefs and aspirations. I urge Nigerians to remain steadfast and be committed to your principles and views as we approach 2015,’’Shitta-Bey said
