Super Eagles star Sunday Mba
Super Eagles star Sunday Mba has said he expects Mexico to provide a stiff opposition when both sides clash in a friendly on May 31.
Mba, who only recently returned to club action for Ranger after over two months of transfer saga, told MTNFootball.com that the game against the CONCACAF champions would be a perfect preparation for the Eagles 2014 World Cup qualifiers.
Nigeria visit Kenya on June 5 and then Namibia on June 12 in continuation of the qualification battle for Brazil 2014.
“I know it would not be an easy encounter, but sincerely it would be a good game to prepare us for the World Cup qualifiers. You know they play physical football like we have in Africa so I think it’s a good game for preparation for us,” he said.
Mba is among the 12 players who made the trip to Germany from Nigeria for the Eagles preparations for this game.
Meanwhile, the 2013 AFCON hero said he expects Rangers to beat Tunisia’s CS Sfaxien in Sunday’s CAF Confederation Cup third round, first leg match enroute to qualifying for the final league stage of the competition.
Mba and goalkeeper Chigozie Agbim are not available for selection for Rangers as they are on national duty.
“I don’t expect them to miss me because there are players who can do the job in my absence,” Mba told MTNFootball.com
“I will only plead with them to ensure they get all three points and ensure that we make it out of this stage. I will be praying for them.”
