Senate President, David Mark, has called on politicians to eschew bitterness and politics of hate and work together in the interest of the generality of the people.
Mark spoke during the dedication of new church building and thanksgiving service to mark the 80th birthday of Dame Dorothy Ihedioha, mother of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha, at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Mbutu, Imo State at the weekend.
The Senate President said it was imperative for politicians to put behind them acrimony of electioneering campaign and join hands with those elected in the interest of good governance, noting that leaders in positions of authority have been chosen by God and so should be supported to succeed.
Mark commended Hon. Ihedioha for facilitating the building of a new befitting place of worship for the church, noting that it was worth emulating that the deputy speaker invited guests from far and near not to solicit funds for the church project but to celebrate the dedication of the new building.
He showered encomiums on Dame Ihedioha on attaining the age of 80 and thanked God for her life.
He added that it took the grace of God for her to have come this far while praying for good health and more years ahead for her.
