Golden Eaglets training for Sunday’s game
Golden Eaglets duo of Chidera Ezeh and Nafiu Bala aka Kabuga could be the jokers that coach Manu Garba (MFR) would use to unlock Guinea in Sunday's U-17 Championship qualifier in Conakry.
Both Ezeh and Kabuga were not available in the 3-0 first leg win in Calabar but they are ready to stake their claim in this crucial cracker following their rich vein of form as the team rounds off training sessions.
Chidera, who was the hat trick hero in the international friendly against Rwanda, scored the fourth goal in the 4-1 win against Niger but was indisposed against Guinea in the first leg. Kabuga, the all-action midfielder is yet to taste action in the qualifiers but he's raring to go.
“I’m happy that I'm part of the team to Conakry and I'm ready to make my contribution if I'm fielded on Sunday,” the ever-smiling Kabuga said.
"Of course, this is the first time I'm making the team in a competitive match and I'm confidence that we are going to win."
Chidera, one of the former Under-15 players in the Golden Eaglets, is also sure of wreaking havoc if fielded.
“We have been equipped with winning mentality and anybody who is fielded would do the country proud," the SSS 2 student said.
Meanwhile, the Golden Eaglets had a light workout at the synthetic pitch adjacent to the Stade du 28 Septembre in Conakry with all the players in good condition.
"The players are fine and there is no injury worries," assured team's doctor, Dr. Deji Olarinoye.
The Golden Eaglets would expectedly familiarize themselves with the pitch of the Stade du 28 Septembre proper at the scheduled match time Saturday’s evening as mandated by CAF. The match would kick off at 4:30pm local time which is 5:30pm Nigerian time.
