Bruno Ecuele

Gabon has been left with just 16 players rather than 18 on its Olympic football squad because of injury and club commitments, reports The Associated Press.

Bruno Ecuele was not released by French club Lorient while fellow defender Emmanuel Ndong is injured ahead of Thursday's Group B opener against Switzerland at St. James Park.

Coach Claude Mbouronot says "I'm not sure what's happening with a replacement. Bruno is a very important player for us (...) but we will cope with the players we've got and adapt."
