In continued calls for a special intervention fund for tourism projects, the Lagos Chamber for Commerce and Industry (LCCI) recently added its voice to the clamour, adding that such will encourage more businesses and entrepreneurs to venture into tourism.
This desire was made known at a news conference that preceded a September 20 seminar at the Nigeria Institute of International Affairs which was tagged Developing the Tourism Sector for the Economic Growth of Nigeria. Speaking at the press conference, the chairman, Industrial Group of the LCCI, Mr Larry Segun-Lean said opportunities in the tourism sector were huge because it cut across all strata of the economy to the benefit of investors and partners.
He also emphasised the importance of having financial institutions, mostly the banking sector create tourism desks in order to finance projects for tourism entrepreneurs in the economy. He said this while reiterating the LCCI’s commitment to changing the face of tourism for national growth.
