The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has said that 87 ships would arrive in Lagos ports between September 18 and October 13, 2012. NPA disclosed this in its Shipping Position on berthing meeting that was made available in Lagos.

The document said the ships were laden with rice, fish, general cargo, containers and petroleum products as well as new and used vehicles. It also reported that 21 ships were waiting to berth at the ports.
While three of the ships are laden with bulk wheat and rice, 18 ships are carrying petroleum products like petrol, kerosene, aviation fuel, diesel and base-oil.

23 ships that arrived between September 1 and September 18 were discharging at the ports. The cargoes included petrol, rice, fish, bulk fertiliser, palm oil, bulk wheat, general cargo and bulk gypsum.
