Nigerian rugby players take on their Ghanaian counterparts

The Managing Director of Promasidor Nigeria Limited, Mr. Keith Richards has said that his company is sponsoring Lagos 7s Rugby Festival because it is in line with its corporate social responsibility.

Richards stated this in Lagos recently at an interactive session with the members of the Nigerian Rugby Football Federation (NRFF). The Lagos 7s Rugby Festival will hold between November 5 & 6th in Lagos.

“We engage in sponsorship but we don’t give cash to people seeking our support because most people we’ve dealt with in the past were not accountable but we give cash to these guys behind the Rugby game because we trust that they are accountable and serious. We are happy to support them. We all need to get behind NRFF and help achieve its target,” Richards said.

While admitting that the kind gesture displayed by Promasidor towards the Lagos 7s Rugby festival is a reflection of the company’s undiluted commitment to the development of youth and bringing families together, Richards also enjoined other corporate bodies to support this initiative.

In his response to the support from Promasidor, vice president of the NRFF, Prince Kayode Oguntayo said the NRFF was grateful to the company because of its leap of faith in the federation.

His words: “Promasidor is the only sponsor we have now. It took a leap of faith in us when we started, believing that we’ve got a great idea. I love Promasidor; it’s got excellent products, and I am happy to tell you that I don’t drink any other beverage except the ones from the stable of Promasidor. In fact, they are the best.”

The Lagos 7s Rugby is an invitational club tournament with local and international clubs participating and it is hoped to have a school tournament with the teams from the Promasidor-sponsored schools Rugby programme in Lagos.
