Kano State police command on Wednesday discovered and detonated a number of high calibre explosive devices behind a popular bakery located along Rijiyar Zaki quarters of the metropolis.
It was gathered that the discovery followed similar one uncovered Tuesday morning at the lecture hall of the Federal College of Education, also in Kano, that led to panic among the community and total disruption of academic activities within the institution.
Also on Tuesday, a bomb was discovered at the Federal College of Education (FCE), Kano while security opperatives deployed to the area cordoned off the vicinity while detonating the device.
Eyewitnesses told reporters, while pleading anonymity, that that about four high calibre Improvised Explosive Devises (IEDs) were discovered around the precinct of the bakery by a security conscious resident.
THISDAY sources said in the wee hours of Wednesday, members of the public discovered the IED’S and reported to security officials, who promptly deployed anti-bomb disposal squad to the scene.
It was also learnt that troop movement towards the area and diversion of traffic on the highway by security agents further fuelled nervousness among residents.
However, Police in Kano have insisted that there was no cause for alarm as security agencies are on top of the situation and subsequently enjoined residents to go about their legitimate duties without fear or molestation.
