Kano: Police Discover Bags of Explosives, as Govt Erects Bulletproof Gates

Kano State Police Command on Wednesday discovered three bags containing high explosive substances allegedly use in making Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) worth N9million.

The state Police Commissioner, Mr. Ibrahim Idris said the explosive materials were found abandoned at Rijiyar Zaki quarters in Kano.

“The explosives are valued to be worth N3 million in each bag, and the area was thoroughly combed and investigations have commenced immediately,” he said.

He further disclosed that 13 suspects were arrested for various offences ranging from criminal conspiracy, rape, armed robbery, impersonation and other offences.

He also stressed that the exhibits recovered from the 13 suspects arrested were, seven motor vehicles, 15 rolls of cable wire, ten pieces of N500 counterfeit notes, two unregistered KASEA Motorcycles and a sum of N139, 070.

While arms and ammunition recovered included one locally made pistol with eight rounds of live ammunition, four AK 47 riffles, eight magazines, 328 live ammunition and one live GPMG ammunition.

Meanwhile, the Kano State Commissioner of Works and Housing, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has disclosed that the idea behind the erecting of bullet proof gates and fence at Government House is to enhance security.

  • I pity this our nation. Where are we going to? Everyday evil is going extreme but i will advice to let's starting working on our self, to leadership from this to society. Nevertheless prayer is the master key irrespective of religion always pray for Nigeria. Nigeria you will be great among nations. Amen.
