Kano Electricity Distribution Company, a subsidiary of Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), has generated the sum of N1.2bn for the month of September 2012.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of PHCN in Kano distribution zone, Alhaji Mohammed Tunde Balogun told reporters that the distribution company covers Kano, Jigawa and Katsina states with a registered customer population of about 500,000 including industrial, commercial and residential customers.
According to him, the PHCN has eleven distribution companies in Kano, Kaduna, Jos, Yola and Abuja areas.
He explained that “apart from Abuja Distribution Company with headquarters in the FCT, Kano is the first distribution company to record N1 billion revenue.
The Kano distribution zone before had an average monthly internally generated revenue of a little above N400 million.
Alhaji Balogun said," I set sail to block the leakages in the marketing system which include non-technical losses, heavy customer’s indebtedness and energy theft”.
The Managing Director also told reporters that the secret behind the benchmark collection includes increased generation of the electricity in the country and good customers care strategies.
He thanked members of staff of the company who worked tirelessly towards improved revenue collection. He however warned against complacency, assuring that the company will continue to ensure the improved of their welfares.
