The Joint Military Task Force (JTF) and State Security Service (SSS), have carried out pre-emptive operations on the hide out of some suspected extremists in Kano, who allegedly had planned to carry out attacks on the ancient city during the forthcoming Sallah Eid celebrations.
The JTF also recovered 33 IEDS and over 739 rounds of ammunition in the process.
State Director of the State Security Service (SSS), Mr. Bassey Eteng, who briefed reporters at the 3 Brigade Headquarters, Nigerian Army, Kano, said three suspects were arrested in the raid carried out on Saturday morning.
"The JTF operation carried out on Thursday where three members of the group were arrested led to the discovery of the bomb factory," he said.
He explained that those arrested had confessed to be planning attacks during the Eid-Fitr celebration.
Items recovered from them included 12 primed bomb cylinders, army uniforms, AK-47 rifles, submachine guns,10 electronic detonators, face masks and seven bags of urea.
The security operatives also discovered another bomb factory at a village,Tundun Bayero by Gada Tamburawa in Dawakin Kudun Local Government Area.
