A high court sitting in Kano has given an interlocutory injunction retraining sacked Nigeria Premier League (NPL) Chairman,  Chief Victor Rumson Baribote, from taking over Dankat Football Club of Kano pending the hearing and determination of a substantive case brought before it by the owners of the club.

The presiding judge of the court, Justice Wada Umar Rano, gave the order Tuesday after the plaintiff’s counsel, Mr. Mohammed Yahaya, asked the court not to vacate the interim order pending the determination of the case.

Yahaya had prayed on November 22 that the court grant an interim order restraining Baribote from changing the name of the club nor elevate the club. The presiding judge granted the request.

Dankat Football Club had dragged Baribote to court in November after he bought over the newly promoted premier league team, claiming that Baribote had offered one Nembe City Football Club which was allegedly found not registered with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Hearing on the substantive case was adjourned to January 7 but none of the defendants Baribote, Nembe Football Club, NFF, and NPL have file a counter affidavit or statement of defence.
