Kano state government owned newspapers, The Triumph, has been shut down with the entire work force directed to report to the State Head of Service for redeployment to the various Ministries.
The publishing company has for the past six months has been grappling with financial crisis, a situation that compelled the State government to bail it out with N50 million a few months ago.
THISDAY learnt that the government’s intervention was part of measures to support the firm to become self-sustaining, but this appeared to have failed.
It was gathered that the State government has promised to settle payment of the three months salary arrears on Friday this week.
