In few weeks, Kaduna Golf Club will join the ranks of courses in Nigeria that are fitted with greens.

The golf course located in the government reservation area is one the three golf courses in Kaduna State.

Kaduna Golf Club is in the rank of Ikoyi Club 1938 and Port Harcourt Golf Club as it is regarded as one of the oldest in Nigeria.

Though it offers an excellent 18 hole course that presents a challenging round of golf, members and guests patronize the course by playing on the old fashioned brown putting surface.

Former captain of IBB International Golf and Country Club, Dr Peter Deshi described, the transformation of Kaduna to green as a development that will aid the growth of golf in Nigeria.

''The more, the merrier. I am excited that Kaduna is set to play 18 greens and join the league of courses that have greens in Nigeria,'' Deshi said.
In the past, Kaduna played host to major tournaments like Cadbury Cup, Peugeot Amateur Tournament and Pinnacle Pro Am.

But the real challenge for the committee of the club is to make the course playable year round by watering the green, given that courses in northern part of Nigeria usually look pale in dry season.
