Jonathan: State of Emergency May Not Last Six Months

The current state of emergency in North Eastern states of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa, may not last up to the six months as prescribed by the constitution.

President Goodluck Jonathan disclosed this to the Secretary General of the United Nations, Mr Ban Ki Moon on the sidelines of the Africa Union conference in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, pointing out in addition to the constitutional provision troops deployed to the area have so far recorded impressive success.
