President Goodluck Jonathan had assured Nigerians and international community that the country is in control of the myriad security challenges befalling it.
Jonathan who was represented by the Minister of State for Defence, Mrs Olusola Obada gave this assurance at the decoration of 55 new two stars Generals drawn from the Army, Navy and Air Force, even as he warned that he would not tolerate any act of disloyalty by them.
The decorated senior military officers includes 22 Major Generals from the Nigerian Army, and their equivalents of 19 Rear Admirals from the Nigerian Navy and 14 Air Vice Marshals (AVMs) from the Nigerian Air Force (NAF).
He further assured that security challenges in the country was under control, adding that terrorism would soon be a thing of the past especially through the promotion of inter-agency cooperation to achieve this needed peace and development.
He added that the presence of other security chiefs at the event is a testament to the importance of cooperation and synergy in meeting the nation's security needs. He further called on the Armed Forces to foster stronger ties and collaboration with other security agencies towards improving and sustaining national peace and security.
He said: "Let me assure all Nigerians and the international community particularly our foreign investors that our security challenges are under control.
"And with our found determination and continued support and partnership terrorism and other security challenges will soon become issues of the past"
Jonathan assured that the Federal Government would continue to support the military and other security agencies to effectively discharge their constitutional responsibilities.
He said that his administration in collaboration with the National Assembly would continue to provide the logistic support and also meet the welfare needs of the military within available resources.
He continued: "Your promotion is in recognition of your selfless and dedicated service to our armed forces in particular and the nation at large.
"I urge you to live up to this high rank by remaining absolutely loyal to the service and the nation as two star generals our nation expects from you greater dedication to duty , exemplary leadership and professional excellence".
"At this stage of your career, you must devote your ideas and talents to peace and security and social economic development of our country", he advised.
The President also emphasised on the need for absolute loyalty and dedication to duty by these privileged personnel, who would steer the military ships at different levels in the country.
