The alarming high prevalence of Human-Immuno Deficiency Virus/Acquired Deficiency Syndrome (HIV/AIDS) in some states of the federation Thursday necessitated the summoning of a crucial meeting by President Goodluck Jonathan with governors whose states are seriously affected and the management of the National Action Committee on HIV/AIDS.
The meeting, THISDAY gathered was intended to map out modalities for the production of an action plan for the current year, 2013, in order to properly mitigate the spread of the disease.
Nigeria's current rating as the second highest in Africa, may have precipitated the meeting which also had donor agencies and other stakeholders in attendance. The President, it was learnt galvanised (NACA) to draw the action plan.
