The Japan Football Association is moving to hold a match in quake-hit Fukushima during this year’s Under-20 Women’s World Cup.

JFA vice president, Kozo Tashima said the association has plans to stage the match in Fukushima if a local stadium can be upgraded to meet FIFA standards, reports The Associated Press.

FIFA has been pressing Japan to organize events in areas struck by last March’s earthquake and tsunami as a show of support for the victims.

The Under-20 Women’s World Cup will be played in Japan from Aug. 19 to Sept. 8. It will be the first time Japan, winners of the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup, will host a FIFA women’s world championship.
