The management of the Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB) has dissociated itself from allegations of extortion levelled against its staff members in its Enugu and Owerri zonal offices by one Hannah Isobor.

It added that the matter was being investigated and any member of staff found to have extorted money from any candidate under any pretext would be sanctioned.

The examination body in a statement issued by its Public Relations Officer, Mr. Benjamin Fabian, said the current management had taken many steps to ease the difficulties which candidates face in accessing its services and to ensure that the candidates are not duped by any staff under the guise of rendering services to them.

“Information on the entire operations of the board can be accessed even by a mobile phone that is connected to the internet,” Fabian added.

“The entire operations of the Board is automate in such a way and manner that with even a handset that is online one can assess all services offered by the Board from checking of result to changing of courses and other necessary services depending on need,” the statement read.

He clarified that candidates did not need to patronise third parties for any of its services, stating that all they required to do was purchase scratch cards from designated banks.

“Given the availability of information on the activities of the Board, it is very disheartening to imagine that the public can still be hoodwinked to part with their hard earned funds for services the Board has made technically free,” the statement added.
