Iyabo Obasanjo, Mustapha, Others Shun PDP Screening

Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Assembly Screening exercise hit a brick wall yesterday as Senator Iyabo Obasanjo representing Ogun Central, Senator Lekan Mustapha representing Ogun East, Hon Dave Salako, Hon Segun Osibote as well as three other House of Representatives members ignored National Assembly screening panel from Abuja.
Their actions came on the heels of a similar move by some House of Assembly aspirants who are not in Governor Gbenga Daniel’s camp. These aspirants also shunned the House of Assembly screening panel last week. The boycotting legislators have vowed not to appear before the panel ending yesterday (Thursday) unless the screening is shifted to a neutral venue.
THISDAY gathered that it was only those National assembly members who are in Daniel’s camp appeared at the screening exercise held at Gbenga Daniel’s factional secretariat in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital. It was also gathered that the panel members on arrival were said to have earlier visited Daniel, who is also a senatorial aspirant for Ogun East at the Government House Abeokuta.
It would be recalled that the state chapter of the party has been factionalised and all attempts at reconciliation has failed so far, leading to the parallel delegates congresses that were held in the state on Tuesday. The factionalized members of the party have also divided the party leadership.
