ITEL brand of mobile phones, a subsidiary of Tecno Telecoms, has called for a renewed commitment and support from its dealers across the country in driving its brand sales for 2013.
Product Manager of ITEL brand of mobile phones, Mr. David Lei, who made the call in Lagos at a forum organised by the company for its dealers, attributed the significant growth of the brand in the Nigerian market in 2012 to the commitment and loyalty of its dealers.
He therefore, and called for more commitment that would make the brand a house-hold name among Nigerians.
Pleased with the contribution of its dealers in pushing the new brand into the market, ITEL gave out iPads to 20 dealers for their commitment and high volume of sales, which they recorded on the ITEL phones in 2012.
Highlight of the reward was the presentation of a brand new Toyota Fortune Jeep to the Managing Director of Decotex Nigeria Limited, Mr. Dennis Okorie, for turning out the highest volume of sales for the ITEL brand of mobile phones in 2012.
Commending dealers for their support for ITEL brand, Lei said the dealers made them proud in 2012, and kept them in business throughout the year. He their support would be needed the more in 2013 for a better and more focused investment.
Unfolding ITEL’s strategy for 2013, its Sales Manager, Mr. Shyamol Saho, said the company would roll out new sales promotion this year, adding that it would also address the issue of counterfeit in order to further build the confidence that dealers have on the brand.
Going forward, Saho said, ITEL would take advantage of smartphones and future phones, as well as its third generation (3G) feature phones to further enhance its phone business in Nigeria in 2013.
General Manager of the company, Mr. Andy Yan promised Nigerians that ITEL would continue to carry out new research in order to come up with more innovative products that would be of interest to the Nigerian consumers.
According to him, ITEL would continue to leverage on its wide network of service centres spread across Nigeria, to offer world-class services for the Nigerian customers. The service centres have technical support team that will address the needs of customers in the Nigerian market, Yan said.
Addressing market growth in mobile phone business, Deputy General Manager of Tecno Telecoms, Mr. Chidi Okonwo said Nigeria would witness increased sales in mobile phone in 2013.
He noted that the growth would be across all brands and Tecno brands, which include ITEL brand, would be part of the phenomenal growth.
“In 2013, we are looking at a total of 30 to 35 million units of phone to be sold in Nigeria across all brands. Currently we have over 100 million mobile phone subscribers in Nigeria, according to NCC statistics and I see the number doubling itself in the next few years, because most rural communities in the country are yet to get access to telephony, and what that means to us in the mobile phone market is that there will be more sales of mobile phones as the operators spread to more rural communities,” Okonkwo said.
