Nigeria's Adam Isah Mohammed has a chance of progressing Thursday if he gives the kind of inspiring fight he put up to qualify for the 68kg category of the taekwondo event.
He is listed to open his campaign against Jordanian Abulibdeh Mohammed.
At the African qualifier in Cairo, Egypt last January, Isah defeated the Tunisian (Briki Wahid) who beat him for the gold medal at the last All Africa Games. Since then, he promised never again to let the country down.
Thursday, Isah is banking on the training he received from Nigeria's Korea coach to make appreciable impact here.
Nigeria's Captain, Chika Chukwumerije, is to wait till Saturday before taking on Cuba's 2011 Athlete of the Year, Robelis Despaigne in the opening clash of the taekwondo +80kg category.
The fourth seeded Cuban is also a quarter finalist at the 2009 World Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark.
But Chukwumerije who won bronze in the event at the last Beijing Games four years ago remains unfazed, hoping to go beyond that achievement here in London.
