One of Nigeria’s leading oil and gas energy logistics companies, Integrated Logistics Services Nigeria Limited (INTELS) has provided a forum for its clients and partners to rub minds on health safety and environment (HSE).

Described as “another landmark” the firm, in a statement, said with its inaugural HSE forum, a platform that brings together health and safety professionals of the companies operating within the oil and gas free zone has been created.

According to the statement, the forum has given expression for sharing industry wide, local and international best practices. The one day event held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

It noted that the forum “is a further demonstration of genuine commitment and improvement to HSE values at all times, and to effectively support initiatives of clients/partners, without loss of down time to their operations. It is an avenue for them to share experiences on enhancing positive safety culture within work environment.”

The forum, with the theme ‘Enhancing positive safety culture within work environment’, is meant to collectively develop ideas that will improve and promote the right culture, behaviour, attitude, leadership and accountability within the work place.

“INTELS believe that achieving customer satisfaction is equivalent to achieving zero incidents, hence the need for all stakeholders to come together and collectively assess foreseeable risks and eliminate or reduce these risks to reasonably practicable level”, it said.
Described as a champion of Nigerian content development, the company said that business can only get better when we identify and correct unsafe behaviour at work, engage and motivate our workers at all times

Some of the clients and contractors who participated and shared their peculiar HSE experiences included Messrs Prodeco International Limited, Cameron Offshore Systems Nigeria Limited, Chevron Nigeria Limited and FMC Technologies Nigeria Limited.

The high point was the presentation of safety recognition awards to some of the clients. These include Mobil Producing Nigeria Limited, Chevron Nigeria Limited, Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company Limited, Addax Petroleum Nigeria Limited, Saipem Drilling, Cameron Offshore Systems Nigeria Limited, FMC Technologies Nigeria Limited, Total Nigeria Limited Nigerian Port Authority (NPA), Onne Port, as well as the Nigerian Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG).

According to INTELS, “with the impressive attendance recorded at the forum and enthusiasm shown by the international oil and gas companies (IOCs), captains of industry and critical stakeholders, we believe that through the forum, management has given assurance that the forum would be sustained and that it can only get bigger and better.

“Today, as the oil and gas activities getting more sophisticated with the application of highly sensitive materials and equipment in addition to locally fabricated heavy duty structures for the deep offshore operations, calls, there is need for continuous assurance to the operators through such collective forum of our preparedness and safety commitments.”

It averred that with strong emphasis by industry operators and stakeholders to migrate to the coveted integrated management systems, there is the urgent need to cultivate the right attitude and synergy to work in tandem, because failure to have the right attitude and preparation can impact negatively on performance and prove costly to operations. “Therefore the forum couldn’t have come at a better time”, it added.

As a major developer of world-class port facilities and infrastructures dedicated to the oil and gas industry with operating bases at Oil and Gas free Zone in Onne, Warri, Calabar and Lagos ports, the firm had earlier this year attained a milestone of 5 million man-hours without lost time injury (LTI).
