INEC Staff Remanded in Prison

For allegedly engaging in unlawful possession of over 1,000 voters’ cards, a security man attached to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mr. Omolade Raphael, and one Mr. Olaolu Oladapo, have been remanded in prison custody by the Akure Chief Magistrates’ Court.

The accused were charged by the Chief Magistrate Johnson Adelegan with offences ranging from felony and unlawful possession of voter’s cards. 

According to the charge read to them, “You conspired to commit felony and the unlawful possession of voter’s card, and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 516 of the criminal code cap 37 Vol 1 laws of Ondo State of Nigeria.”  When the charges were read to the accused, they pleaded not guilty, consequently their counsel, Mr Kayode Ikotun, applied for bail on liberal terms.
