Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr. Mahesh Sachdev

Kano state government has been urged to consolidate the economic and social relations with India started in the 15th century.
The Indian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr. Mahesh Sachdev , explained in Kano that the oldest recorded human contact between Nigeria and India was initiated by Kano citizens, led by Baba Ghor, who came to India via Sudan and Mecca following their pilgrimage in the 15th century.
He related that Baba Ghor established himself as a successful merchant and spiritual leader, explaining that his mosque and shrine in Ratanpur are now tourist attractions.
The envoy explained that this phenomenal link has been made stronger today by the presence of many Indians in Nigeria, especially in Kano,
