Ihedioha Kicks off Road Project in Imo

In his determination to showcase effective representation to the people of Imo State, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, has flagged off a 13.5-kilometre road project stretching from Umuopara Nguru to Ibeku-Umuhu Okwuato-Oke Uvuru popularly known as Old Douglas Road in Aboh Mbaise Local Government Area of Imo State.

Ihedioha, while cutting the tape to signify the commencement of work on the road, reiterated the determination of the Federal Government to provide all season roads to all parts of the country to enhance easy transportation and increase economic activities in the country.

He noted that the road became indispensable considering its historical background, having being the particular route used by the colonial government led by the popular Douglas, who was the District Officer in charge of the old Owerri province.
He added that with its development, the socio-economic activities of the people would be greatly promoted.

The Deputy Speaker who was accompanied by some members of the National Assembly, including the House Committee Chairman on Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Hon. Offor Chukwuebo, and the South-east Zonal Coordinator of FERMA, Mr. Rufus Onimisi, who represented the FERMA Managing Director, Gabriel Amuchi, also described the road project as a further commitment of the Federal Government to provide dividend of democracy to the people.

According to him, the National Assembly is committed to assisting the president in the provision of the dividends of democracy to our people, adding that nothing will distract this lofty goal.

He charged the contractor, Coduc Nigeria Limited to ensure speedy completion of the project and in line with the officially approved specifications.

In his response, Chukwuonye expressed gratitude to the Deputy Speaker for attracting the project to the state and promised to complete the project on time and according to specification.
