Igbo people in Lagos State, under the auspices of the Igbo Speaking Community (ISC) Wednesday urged the National Assembly to expedite action on the creation of a new state for the South-east region.

The National Assembly Committee on Constitution Review had included the creation of an additional state for the South-east zone in the proposed constitution review.

The ISC’s Coordinator, Chief Patrick Mba, who told journalists in Lagos that “an additional state for the South-east would bring the zone at par with other zones in the federation,” said:”We had, on August 8, made an appeal on the state creation to the National Assembly Constitution Review Committee because we feel that the creation of an additional state will bring equity, and should be hastened.”
