The Nigerian Union of Journalists {NUJ}, Oyo state Council has demanded for the identity of soldiers who brutalised the Assistant Editor of Tribune on Saturday, Mr. Laolu Harolds. The council in a press conference by its chairman, Comrade Gbenga Opadotun called on the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 2 Mechanize Division to fish out the soldiers that beat-up the Tribune editor. Harold, last week was brutalised by soldiers attached to the demolition squad of the Oyo state government when he attempted to take a picture of the activities of the squad in Ibadan.

The victim was rushed to the University Teaching Hospital (UCH), Ibadan. The NUJ chairman said that the assault on newsmen by security agencies in the course of their professional duties was becoming a common feature in the state which must be halted. Opadotun noted that "as journalists we always see ourselves as partners in progress to other establishment and we always give them the respects due them.
