As anticipated, the eagerly-awaited Ikeja City Mall concert lived up to the expectation of its teeming consumers. It particularly turned out to be a dream come true for one unexpected consumer who went home with the brand new Renault Logan, valued at over N2 million.

The night had started a bit curiously for shoppers who trooped out of the Ikeja city mall to the sound of music playing from the parking lot of the ICM. As they followed the music, DJ Switch was on the turntable mixing the music from current beats.

The concert ground was tightly secured and condoned off while shoppers and guests from the mall and beyond trooped in their numbers to the concert ground. Soon some took to the dance floor. They were made up of families - husbands, wives, children and even grandparents dropped off their purchases and took to the dance floor to join in the fun and wait for the raffle.

When the MC of the day, Senator Bethel Njokwu, took to the stage it was a time of winning as he started by giving away airtime to the fastest finger to load airtime. Intermittently cracking the audience up with his funny interludes, the Senator invited the first set of dancers who were made up of children between the ages of three to 10 years.

After dancing their hearts out, the children were rewarded with gifts from Airtel one of the tenants in the premises. Next was the adult singing competition. After a keenly contested show, the winners and the first three runners-up in the competitions were rewarded with cash vouchers from Woolworths, shirts from the Polo shop as well as gifts from Airtel and ICM.

The high point of the event was the raffle draw. But before the raffles, the MC explained that the winner must be present to win the car as had been widely publicised. So after the first two raffles were picked with no winner in sight, the crowd roared with delight when at the calling of the third raffle Mr. Olabisi Okunsanya signified from behind the crowd to announce his presence.

It took about five minutes of verification and Okunsanya was announced as the winner of the Renault Logan. Immediately this announcement was made the winner fell to his knees thanking God. The car was presented to him by the outgoing ICM Centre Manager, Mrs. Debola Majekodunmi.

The main performance of the day came right after the car presentation when hip-hop sensation and ‘Africa Rapper Number One’ himself, MI Abaga, thrilled and kept the audience spellbound with his performance.

The ICM End of the Year programme, which began three weeks ago with a media facility tour of the 22,000sqm retail and entertainment space, hosted children from the Heritage Orphanage Home, as part of its Social Responsibility.
