IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja
Intro: A new committee led by Mrs Anne Addeh has taken over from Mrs Wasilatu Abdulahi at the ladies section at IBB International Golf and Country Club. It must meet the standard of the last 12 months.
Children’s Day Clinic
On May 27, 2011, over 80 school children converged on IBB Club for an introductory course into the game of golf. The clinic was at the instance of the Nigeria Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC) and had the kids between the ages of 4-18 in attendance.
The Summer Golf Programme
The section held a structured five weeks learning programme for children to inculcate discipline, golf etiquettes as well develop their playing skills. The programme was for children between the ages of 8-21.
In the end, a number of them acquired handicaps which gave them the ticket to play the IBB Junior Open in August 2011.
Ladies Development Initiatives
This comprised a series of activities that brought fun and enhanced social interaction among the members. These included Crazy Golf tournament, Ladies Close, Ladies Open and Ladies Captain Day.
Junior Open
The 4th IBB Junior Open held on August 20, 2011 featured 67 junior golfers from five clubs including, Port Harcourt, Ibadan, Kano, Enugu and Abuja. It was the largest assemblage of youth golfers from across the country.
KGI All African Junior Championships
The programme took place from April 9-14 2012 and was the first of its kind in Nigeria. It served as qualifier for Junior European Tour. The event featured golf clinic for beginners, kids’ international championship and admission into the kids’ international Golf Hall of Fame.
