Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau State couldn’t hide his joy that he has returned from his three weeks trip to Germany to meet his state in peace and prayed that the situation becomes permanent.
Jang and his wife Talatu who were received by his Deputy, Sir Ignatius Longjan and other supporters at the Yakubu Gowon Airport, Jos at about 2 pm returned aboard Dana Airlines marked 5N-DOY
This peaceful atmosphere he met on his return that elated him contrasts the trip he made to India a year ago which he had to cut short to return home following the riot that marred the 2011 Eid el Fitri in the state, in which about 50 persons were killed and over 200 cars burnt at Rukuba Road Muslim prayer ground.
On the trip, Jang noted that he and his other colleagues in other states went to have an insight on German economy “since Germany has the best economy in the whole of Europe; we went to see how their economy works and how their federal system works too, in order to learn from them to improve ours”.
He said “Germany is mixed economy; it is a social economy. By the time we put our reports together and brief the Executive Council on what we learnt there, we would see how some of them could be applied to better the lots of the state and the nation, based on what the council will take from it”.
