As part of its corporate social responsibility, Honeywell Flour Mills Plc has continued empowering bakers with modern techniques aimed at ensuring improved production and maximum profitability.
Fourteen of such bakers randomly picked nationwide were, at the weekend, turned into certified master bakers as they successfully graduated from the company’s bakery school. The school has so far, trained and graduates about 300 master bakers from across the country in 20 regular courses and 1 executives’ course.
Presenting certificates to the Regular Course 21 graduands, Executive Vice Chairman, Honeywell Flour Mills Plc, Mr. Babatunde Odunayo, noted that the school strives to empower bakers by equipping them with modern baking skills and flour handling procedures that they can use to maximise yield from flour and run their bakery operations more professionally and profitably.
“At Honeywell Flour Mills Plc, we do not only produce superior quality flour, which meets with international standards, we provide total baking solution to bakers. Our supply chain management ensures that our customers’ orders are delivered promptly, and our sales and field marketing personnel are on hand at all times to attend to our customer’s issue. During the three-week training period, he said the students were taught the science of baking ingredients, common bread fault, and how to solve them, how to maximise baker output through the production of different bread varieties, basic selling, marketing, finance and people management tips.
The graduands, according to him, were well equipped to produce and compete with superior quality baking products including Croissant, Wheat Bread, Brown Bread, Coconut bread, Honey Bread, German Twist/Braiding, White pan Bread, Cinnamon, Spring Roll, Sweet Roll, Dough (Doughnut, Swiss Roll), Hamburger, Yeast Buns, Raised Donnut, Samosa, Clustered Bread, Meat Pie, French &Italian Baguette, Chelsea buns, Cookies, Semolina pudding and of course, Cakes, including Angel food cakes, chocolate cakes, etc.
He charged the graduands (12 men and 2 women) that the certificate they received is an announcement to the baking world that they are ready to go ahead to the next step in their lives and businesses, saying they are now worthy ambassadors of the Honeywell Flour Mills Baking School.
The Best Graduating Student, Mr. Abiola Ala, expressed appreciation to the company for the unique platform provided to sharpen their skills, saying this would have multiplier effects on their productivity and ultimately the general society.
