Unidentified gunmen Tuesday killed five persons in Dakata area of Kano metropolis.
The gunmen, who rode on a motorcycle, according to a source, stormed the area about 100 meters away from Dakata bus stop and started shooting sporadically.
The source also added that the gunmen opened fire on some persons playing local draft, killing five on the spot while two others sustained injuries.
It was also learnt, the gunmen escaped after the killings as operatives of the Joint Military Task Force (JTF) who arrived the scene, cordoned off the entire place.
The injured persons were rushed to an undisclosed hospital in the city for treatment.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Musa Magaji Majia, said he cannot ascertain the number of casualties as at the time of filing this report.
