Some unidentified gunmen Monday kidnapped a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain in Bauchi State, Alhaji Mahammadu Sade, killing his security guard in the process.

Sade’s abduction came barely 24 hours after a bomb explosion rocked St. John’s Catholic Church, Bauchi leaving five persons dead and about 50 others injured.

THISDAY gathered that Sade’s abduction occurred Monday morning in his residence along Railway road in Bauchi metropolis, causing pandemonium among residents.

Monday’s attack, however, made it the fourth in less than one week, but unconfirmed reports said Sade, who is a close political associate to Governor Isa Yuguda, is a known car dealer in the state.

However, the state Police Commissioner, Mr. Mohammed Ladan, who confirmed the incident, said: “We are still investigating the matter. We have arrested one suspect, who is helping the Police in its investigation.”

In his account of the incident, a family member of the victim, Hafizu Dahiru, said his daughter called his wife and told her that gunmen had kidnapped Sade in his residence at Railway Quarters, Bauchi.

Hafizu said: “Around five o’clock in the morning, when the assailants shot and killed his security man before taking him away.”

His where about and safety is still unknown, we pray May Allah bail him from his kidnappers.”

Also reacting, the state Assistant Publicity Secretary of PDP, Alhaji Bashir Bukar Zayam, said: “We received the news of his abduction with great shock and we pray to God to be his keeper wherever he is, we advised our leaders to be fair and just to all.”

Zayam called on security agencies to re-strategise in order to protect lives and property of innocent citizens, and urged residents to continue to pray for the country in order to overcome the security challenges.
