Managing Director of Guarantee Trust Bank, Segun Agbaje has lauded the performances of participating schools in the Season 1V Lagos State/GTBank Principal Cup football competitions which was concluded over the weekend at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
In a chat with THISDAY, he said the performance of the participating schools was very encouraging, adding that the Principals Cup is aimed at reviving the interest of the foundational schools, which started as far back in 1954.
“We run Principals’ Cup and the Heritage Cup, as well as the Super Cup final between the winners of the two competitions,” he said.
Agbaje reiterated the bank’s commitment to the staging of the competitions, saying, “We just want to give back to the society and decided that the way to get back is through the youth. We believe that young people are the future of this nation, so we are creating a platform for them to express themselves and compete honestly, which is what the competition is all about.”
In the male category Keke High School, Agege, outclassed hard fighting Oriwu Senior Model College, Ikorodu 5-1, while In the female category, Ikotun Senior High School, Ikotun defeated the third time finalists, CMS Girls High School, Bariga, in a penalty shootout.
