The Grand Towers Plc and the Niger State Government have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to construct the Grand Towers Minna Mall (GTMM) in Minna.
The GTMM project, according to a statement was facilitated by the Niger State Public Private Partnership Agency, through the leadership of its Director-General, Shehu Kudu Mohammed.
The MoU, which was signed by the Managing Director/ CEO Grand Towers Plc, Mr. Uchenna Duru, and the Commissioner for Investments, Commerce and Cooperatives, Niger State at the State Council meeting, was witnessed and presented by the State Governor, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu Mohammed.
Amongst others present at the event were royal fathers and representatives of the state government.
Chairman, Minna City Centre Project and Head of Service, Alhaji Ahmed Ibrahim Matane, outlined the desire to develop the space, once used as a centre market, to a significant area of pride for the city. "It is important to bring convenience of shopping to all states in Nigeria. However, of most importance is to provide a platform that will increase the growth and standards of the organised retail sector, aid increment in economic growth of the state and provide employment generation," Duru said.
He further explained that competition in the retail sector meant better products and services for consumers.
"There isn’t a particular format for building malls, and Grand Towers will ensure that what we bring to Minna will indeed be beneficial to not just the catchment area but the state at large," he added.
Grand Towers is an indigenous holding company with interests in investments, real estate, hospitality and distribution.
