Founder and President, Asabe Shehu Yar’Adua Foundation, Hajiya Asabe Shehu Yar’Adua, has urged Nigerians to always provide succour to the physically challenged in the society.

Speaking through a statement to mark this year’s International Youth Day of Disabilities in Ogun State, Yar’Adua said: “I am happy because I can share a moment like this day with them and reassure them that all that glitters is not gold. I feel great because these children can find in our society that many out there have not forgotten them. I am excited because these children can still sing and dance because Allah does not abandon His people, either in the rain or under the sun.”

Speaking further, she said: “I can sing praises to the high heavens because these children are lucky to find considerate, kind- hearted, pious and committed citizens, who are too passionate about humanity. I am proud because these children are lucky to find the initiator of this home and today’s events, who believe what rule the world are ideas and not affluence.

“When I look around our society these days, I can only see a few that believe that those vulnerable persons in the country deserve to live and enjoy other privileges we all deserve as human beings. Many have lost their souls. They are pre-occupied with what they get from the system and not what they can do towards making Nigeria a better place for the weak and the strong; the young and the old or the poor and the comfortable.

“That is the pervasive sad story in our society today as people no longer think about serving humanity and appreciating their country for good things it has allowed them to achieve and what Nigeria has allowed them become.”

Yar’Adua said: “All those who providence has graciously blessed and endowed ought to be the conscience of the society, sowing and spreading the seed of prosperity, love, kindness and conviviality to the needy and the less privilege.
