Fords Trip R campaign for environmental conservation

As part of its contribution towards tackling environmental challenges confronting the nation, Ford Motor Company announced a USD 50,000 Conservation and Environment Grant for Nigeria to be used in an environmental education programme focused on creating public awareness on how to Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle waste materials. 

Introduced to Nigeria for the first time this year, the Conservation and Environmental Grants underscore Ford’s commitment to the market and its communities. Since its inception more than 10 years ago, the grants program has supported more than 150 projects with more than $1.2 million USD granted to date in key Ford export markets such as, the Middle East, South Korea, Puerto Rico, Central America and other markets within Asia Pacific. 

The Reduce, Reuse and Recycle (RRR) Campaign, sponsored by Ford is aimed at enlightening the publics on the importance of proper waste disposal; and how to properly care for the environment.
This is a premier platform to introduce the Ford Conservation and Environmental launch in Nigeria.
The RRR Campaign sponsored by Ford Motor Company will adopt an environmental education programme focused at creating public awareness on how to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle materials.

The RRR Campaign is a Radio Programme reaching out to people to preserve our local environment, heritage and natural resources.
Ford furthers commitment to Nigeria, Donates $50,000 Through Conservation and Environmental Grants Programme.
The programme supports deserving local projects in markets around the world that are dedicated to environmental protection

Ford is introducing the program to Nigeria by adopting an Environmental Education program focused at creating public awareness on how to Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle waste materials.
Fords spokesperson in Nigeria, Laura Oloyede said “the Ford Conservation & Environmental grants program follows the Henry Ford European Conservation Awards which was originated in Britain in the early 80’s with the vision of encouraging a wide range of projects that support, preserve or restore the local environment, heritage and natural resources. Since its launch in 1983, tens of thousands groups and individuals across 34 European countries have participated in the programme”.

“We can all reduce our impact on the environment by making the right choices. We all have a role to play in helping to preserve our environment,” she maintained.
Oloyede further said that as part of the RRR Campaign initiative, a Radio Enlightenment Program will run from now to the end of the year to enlighten and educate the people on how to preserve their local environment, heritage and natural resources.

Since launching the global grants program more than ten years ago, Ford has awarded more than USD $2 million in grants to hundreds of environmental projects in Asia Pacific, the Caribbean, Central America, the Middle East and Puerto Rico.
“This programme is one of the many ways Ford goes further to preserve the environment and improve its communities’ quality of life,” said Eugene Prinsloo, senior marketing director, Sug-Saharan Africa, Ford Export & Growth Operations. “Ford’s grant program is one of the largest corporate initiatives of its kind in the world that is aimed to protect and preserve a sustainable environment for communities where we do business.”

Initiatives such as Ford’s Conservation and Environmental Grants program evidence a commitment to encourage support and reward the actions of individuals, groups and non-profit organizations in achieving the same goal.

In Nigeria today, it is a common to see dumps and refuse littered on the streets and major roads. These wastes end up blocking drainages with a resultant effect of flood.
Litter affects us environmentally, socially and economically. Litter is a problem in our society, particularly along our high ways, roads and neighbourhoods.
Nigeria was first introduced to world-class Ford vehicles in 2002 with the opening of Ford’s first importer-dealer in the country.
