Flowssick
Ahead of this year’s Headies (formerly Hip Hop World Awards) which holds on October 20 at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos, organisers announced that Chuddy K has been taken off the list of nominees for the Next Rated Category and replaced by rapper Flowssick. This followed evidence that the “Ga Ga Crazy” singer had already dropped a 2010 album titled I Am Me. With the recent news, Flowssick joins Praiz, Davido and Eva Alordiah in a keenly contested spot. Past winners of the category which comes with the prize of a Kia automobile are Overdose, Asa, Wande Coal, Skuki, Omawumi and Wizkid.
With his removal, Chuddy K is now in contention for three laurels at the prestigious awards after he finds himself in the Best Street Hop category alongside Reminisce, Terry G, Rayce and Erigga. He will also jostle for Song of the Year and Best Pop Single with Davido, D’Banj, P Square and Iyanya.
Missing from the usual suspects for the annual award, which will be hosted by M.I. and Omawumi, is the rapper Mode 9 who made the Lyricist on the Roll category his after clinching it a number of times. The category now has Iceberg Slim, Yung6ix, Phyno and Erigga while the African Artist of the year category features Ghanaian artistes D’Black and Sarkodie, and Camp Mulla and Zahara from Kenya and South Africa respectively.
In a keenly contested line up over 20 categories, notable names are 9ice, Ice Prince, Wande Coal, Clarence Peters, Olu Maintain, Sound Sultan and others.
