Nigeria has asked the international community, especially the developed countries to act decisively on measures designed to help to combat the negative impact of Climate Change.

Against the background of recent massive flooding that ravaged most parts of the country, the Minister of Environment, Mrs Hadiza Ibrahim Mailafia said the dangers of climate change has been proved to be real and disruptive to lives and livelihoods and needs to be urgently tackled by the global community.

The Minister who presented Nigeria's position at the 18th Session of the Conference of Parties to United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, in Doha, United Arab Emirate said apart from assisting in mitigation efforts, the developed countries should set a binding target on reduction of harmful emissions.
