First Bank of Nigeria Plc has expressed its commitments towards entrepreneurial development in the country.

The bank also promised to continue to promote initiatives that impact Nigerian youths at home and abroad through its Community Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes.

Head, Human Capital Management, First Bank, Mrs Ayodele Jaiyesimi, said these while commending winners of the Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) national competition held recently in Lagos.

The winner of the competition was Federal University of Technology Owerri. The institution would have the opportunity to represent Nigeria this September at the SIFE world cup in Washington. Other winners were student of Bayero University Kano, and Federal Polytechnic Idah, were the first and second runner up.

Jaiyesimi who spoke with THISDAY said: “This competition and its impact on the communities portray the immense creativity of our youth and I believe we are all inspired and challenged to do more going forward. The SIFE competition is in-line with First Banks’ drive to engage with society on a significant level, with a view to empowering and developing the communities in which we operate.

“First Bank is very passionate and committed to the empowerment of Nigerian youth, as well as the promotion of initiatives that impact Nigerian youths at home and abroad through its CSR. As a leader in the financial service sector, we are mindful of the need to groom future business leaders and the SIFE Nigeria initiative is a good threshold to work on. We are excited to be a part of this program as it fits into our passion for the youths.”
