Even as work continues at the Bayelsa State Government-owned international cargo airport, an Abuja-based company, Azikel Aviation, has become the first operator to announce a new partnership with a renowned United Kingdom-based Castle Air Chatter for the design and building of a $10 million hanger for the repair and servicing of helicopters at the airport.
The new partnership is also expected to provide training for about 100 youths on aviation engineering management in the United States of America and Britain.
Chairman of Azikel Group, Dr. Azibabu Godbless Eruani, who disclosed this in Yenagoa, said the partnership was targeted at improving on the huge demand for helicopter services within the region.
“In a short while, you will start seeing people taking measurements and design. And in the next four months, we will start seeing the building of a hanger. The purpose is to begin to see how we can develop our people locally to participate in the aviation sector,” he said.
Eruani noted that the deal with the UK firm is a long-term development plan.
“We have convinced them to invest over $10million in the building of a modern hanger facility. They will come here and run it. They are going to be maintaining all of them here,” Eruani added.
